PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonwoven fabric for an alkali battery separator having excellent leakage resistance during group winding by a battery forming machine and surface strength excellent in compression resistance and capable of preventing a liquid drying-up phenomenon and micro short-circuiting when a positive electrode is swollen, and to provide a manufacturing method for it. SOLUTION: This nonwoven fabric for an alkali battery separator is made of split composite fabric having an average fabric diameter of 1-6 μm after splitting formed by two or more kinds of polyolefine resin components alternately disposed adjacent to the cross section of the fabric, at least one or more kinds of polyolefine resin having a fabric diameter of 10-25 μm and thermal fusion composite fabric having a diameter of 16-25 μm, and the penetration strength of the fabric in at least one direction is not less than 2156 N/m, its needle sticking strength is not less than 1.03 N and its bursting strength is not less than 245 kPa. |
