<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smart keyless control device which can avoid an adverse effect of electromagnetic noise triggered by serge noise of a generator, and detects a portable unit in a vehicle with high accuracy, to thereby reduce erroneous warnings. <P>SOLUTION: According to the smart keyless control device, if predetermined conditions are satisfied during operation of an engine (S1→yes), power generation amount of the generator is reduced (S2). Thereafter a request signal for requesting a response from the portable unit is transmitted into the vehicle, and receives an ID signal output from the portable unit in response to the request signal, to thereby determine whether or not the specific portable unit is present in the vehicle, based on a result of the reception (S3).
