BIOMETRIC AUTHENTICATION METHOD AND DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve security even if different units perform primary and secondary verification about a biometric authentication device that uses biometric information to perform individual authentication.

SOLUTION: When a control unit (34) and an IC card (5) perform the primary and secondary verification of biometric characteristic data from an image capture device (1), data are scrambled and transmitted between devices. Second registration data which are more important to authentication are stored in the IC card and first registration data are registered in the IC card in a scrambled state. Security is improved, and moreover a load on the CPU of the IC chip in the IC card is reduced.
