<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having a high charge discharge capacity and high safety. <P>SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery has a nonaqueous electrolyte prepared by dissolving supporting salt in a solvent comprising only a phosphate ester derivative, a positive electrode, and a negative electrode. As the negative electrode, lithium metal or a lithium alloy is preferable, and as the lithium alloy, an alloy of lithium with metal selected from the group comprising Al, In, Si, Sn, and Zn is preferable.
