A METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MONITORING FUEL INJECTION

The present invention relates to a method, and an apparatus exploiting said method, for monitoring the fuel injection in an internal combustion engine, especially a diesel engine which employs an injector connected to a common high pressure reservoir (common rail) for the purpose of detection of possible faults within the fuel injection system. The present method makes use of the actuation signal of the valve of the high pressure pump for fault detection, and further employs measurements of pressure, fuel quantity and fuel temperature, filtering and equilibrium check.
