PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information editing apparatus and method enable the editing of contents by the user based on a non-audiovisual part of the contents as to the reproduction of the contents, by managing in a reproduction device about the reproducing state of the contents as to the reproduction of the contents. SOLUTION: The contents are acquired by a contents acquiring section, and these contents are reproduced by a reproduction section. A contents range of the contents is acquired by a contents range acquiring section, and a reproduction history of the contents is prepared by an audiovisual history preparing section, and a non-audiovisual part processing section calculates a range of a non-reproducing part of the contents from the reproduction history and the contents range, then the editing of the contents which reflects a contents part reproduced by the user or a reproduction method, can be carried out by an editing section by performing the editing such as cutting or copying based on the non-reproducing part of the contents.
