PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a thermoplastic molding material reinforced with a long fiber, in which, in dry blending a long-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin molding material, a thermoplastic resin (diluent resin) and other submaterials for moldings, segregation is hard to occur and in which the breakage of the molding material that causes the plugging of a hopper in manufacturing the moldings is very hard to occur. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the long-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin molding material has the impregnation step wherein a plurality of the reinforcing fibers are arranged in parallel and impregnated with a thermoplastic resin and the cutting step wherein the obtained long-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin rods are cut with a cutting apparatus having a rotary cutting edge. In the above cutting step, the temperature of the long-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin rods is adjusted to from 50°C to a temperature of (the melting point of the above thermoplastic resin minus 10°C) and the peripheral speed of the rotary cutting edge is set to 200 m/min or lower thus to cut into pieces having a length (L) of 3-6 mm.
