<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor and a method of measuring gas concentration, requiring no reference gas or the like and capable of simplifying structure, and being capable of measuring gas concentration over a wide range. <P>SOLUTION: A sensor element 3 of this gas sensor 1 is constituted of a test tube-like base body 9 with a closed tip end and an opened rear end, a reference electrode 11 formed into annular shape in a tip side of an outer circumferential face of the base body 9, and a detection electrode 13 formed into annular shape in a rear end side of the reference electrode 11 on the outer circumferential face, and the reference electrode 11 and the detection electrode 13 are connected to a gas-measuring part 7. The base body 9 is a solid electrolyte, and comprises stabilized zirconia added with yttria. The reference electrode 11 is an electrode comprising a main component of an oxide (for example, NiMn<SB>2</SB>O<SB>4</SB>), containing manganese and nickel, the detecting electrode 13 is an electrode using platinum as the main component. The oxygen (gas) concentration is thereby found, based on the potential difference between the reference electrode 11 and the detection electrode 13, in the gas-measuring part 7. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
