PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation apparatus for vehicles for displaying guidance immediately after inputting a destination. SOLUTION: The navigation apparatus for vehicles includes a tentative destination setting means for setting a halfway position from a departing location to a destination and a prescribed position on an electronic map as a tentative destination separately from a search by a total route search means to the destination. Then, the result of the tentative route search is plotted on the electronic map and the tentative guidance to the tentative destination is executed. The tentative destination is set, the route to the tentative destination is searched, and the result is guided, thus showing the direction to the destination to a driver quickly.
