PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that a conventional cutting off apparatus is large and heavy because the apparatus is made of iron plates, etc., and the terminal part of a transportation duct is located in an elevated place so that the cutting off apparatus is heavy and mounting and demounting operation thereof is difficult, etc., because the cutting off apparatus must be lifted to the elevated place for the mounting and demounting operation thereof. SOLUTION: The tea leaf plucking machine is composed of a machine body 3 of a portal frame traveling along a tea ridge striding over the tea ridge, a plucking apparatus 4 arranged under the portal frame for performing the plucking of tea leaves, a tea leaf housing container 5 arranged at the rear of the plucking apparatus for housing the plucked tea leaves and a transporting duct 6 for transporting the plucked tea leaves to the upper part of the tea leaf housing container. Freely openable and closable openings 11 are provided in the base of the tea leaf housing container and freely flexible cloth-like cutting off chutes 12 are installed from the upper inlets of the tea leaf housing container to the openings at the base of the tea leaf housing container. Freely flexible cutting off ducts 13 are provided from the openings at the base of the tea leaf housing container to the downward row spacings of the tea ridge to cut off the tea leaves cut with the plucking apparatus in the row spacings of the tea ridge.
