Method for preventing microbial growth on water-wet surfaces in cooling towers

A process prevents the growth of microorganisms e.g. legionnaire's pathogens on the wetted interior surfaces of cooling towers. The surfaces in question are pre-treated with an anti-bacterial agent that is applied by a combination of paint and nanotechnology. The anti-bacterial agent is an additive incorporating silver ions. The thickness of the coating is in the nano-range. Also claimed is the use of the additive to prevent the growth of microorganisms ion the wetted inner surfaces of cooling towers.
