Coupling for cylindrical pressure vessels consists of overlapping edges into which radially arranged coupling devices and filters. An outer ring or lip is welded to one section of the vessel while the other rim has an inner ring welded to it. These have radial holes bored in them with opposed conical profile, the narrowest section being at the mating surface of the two rings. Inserts are mounted into this which are sprung onto the conical profile and sealed. They then prevent movement in the vertical plane. They are held in position by threaded tensioning bolts with tapered profile. Used for holding together sections of pressure vessels such as pressure filters. gives reliable coupling which is considerably easier to assemble and dismantle than conventional bolted joints.
