Acetylsulphanilchloride is reacted with guanidine salts in the presence of alklai and in opt. water-contg. acetonitrile, followed by saponification of the acetylsulphaguanidine formed. The prefd. solvent used is acetonitrile contg. 1-30% hexane. The product formed is used as medicine or may be used as intermediate in the synthesis of heterocyclic sulphonamides. The acetonitrile-hexane mixture is easily recovered by azeotropic distillation giving >92% recovery. |
