PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy recovery apparatus and a method of a plasma display panel capable of reducing a manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: The energy recovery apparatus of the invention comprises; a capacitive load formed equivalently between a scanning electrode and a sustain electrode; an energy recovery section for recovering energy which is charged in the capacitive load and for re-supplying the recovered energy to the capacitive load; an energy supply section provided between the energy recovery section and the capacitive load, in which the energy is relayed between the energy recovery section and the capacitive load and in which a reference voltage is supplied to the capacitive load so that stable discharge may be generated in the capacitive load; and an energy relay section provided between the energy recovery section and the energy supply section, in which the energy is relayed between the energy recovery section and the energy supply section.
