PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle capable of compatibly securing heating efficiency and cooling efficiency. SOLUTION: This air conditioner for the vehicle includes a cowl box 1 which is upwardly extended on a dash panel 7 for partitioning into an engine compartment 9 and a cabin 8, and has an outside air inlet 11 for introducing the external air into an upper part thereof, and an outside air outlet 12 for guiding out the introduced air; an air conditioning unit 2 for temperature-controlling the outside air guided out from the external guide port 12 and blowing it in the cabin; a heat insulating duct 3 having a first opening portion 31 for introducing the outside air, and a second opening portion 32 for leading out the introduced outside air to the air conditioning unit 2; and a led-out outside air adjusting device 4 for adjusting the lead-out amount of the high-temperature outside air passing through the cowl box 1, keeping the air at a temperature higher than the outside air by the heat in the engine compartment 9, and led out from the outside air outlet 12, and the low temperature outside air passing through the heat insulating duct 3 and keeping the air at a temperature lower than the high-temperature outside air led out from the second opening portion 32.
