PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anti-seismic base for furniture effectively absorbing vibrations in the whole directions (transverse vibrations) and provided with a low-cost stopper structure. SOLUTION: This anti-seismic base for furniture comprises a base 1 to be fixed or installed on the floor, a moving part 2 disposing a plurality of moving bodies 22 inside a wall face 21 protrusively provided on the top face of the base 1 and encircling an appropriate range from the center, wherein the moving body 22 has a circular or oval-shaped small disk 23 provided with a plurality of through holes and bearings 24 fit into the through holes, a mount part 3 provided to be placed on the bearings of the moving part 2 so as to be movable relatively to the base 1, a stopper part 4 having a support rod to be broken when a specified shearing force acts on the rod and inserted and fixed between the base 1 and the mount part 3 and a damping mechanism part 5 for damping a relatively travelling movement of the base 1 and the mount part 3. When an earthquake of a specified magnitude or greater occurs, the stopper part 4 breaks, and even when the floor of a house quakes, a piece of furniture is able to freely move sideways together with the mount part 3, thus preventing the piece of the furniture from falling down.
