<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a high-luminance light emitting diode capable of increasing the quantity of phosphors disposed above an LED chip. <P>SOLUTION: In a light emitting diode 10, an LED chip 14 is connected/fixed on a surface 12a of a substrate 12 comprised of an insulating material, one electrode of the LED chip 14 and one external electrode 16a are connected, and another electrode of the LED chip 14 and another external electrode 16a are connected. Furthermore, the LED chip 14 is surrounded with a frame member 20, the periphery of the LED chip 14 is covered with a translucent member 22 of which a surface 22a is approximately flush with the surface 14a of the LED chip 14, coating 26 with a phosphor 24 mixed is disposed on the surface 14a of the LED chip 14 and the surface 22a of the translucent member 22 and moreover, the frame member 20 is filled with a translucent material to form a translucent lid member 28. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
