PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical product having a high index of refraction and a high Abbe number, superior in heat resistance and transparency, and suitable for use in a plastic lens, a prism, an optical fiber, an information recording medium substrate, a colored filter and an infrared absorption filter etc. SOLUTION: This optical product comprises a polymer produced from a sulfide compound represented by general formula (1) (wherein R<SB>1</SB>represents an alkane residue, a cycloalkane residue, a heterocyclic compound residue or an aromatic compound residue) as an essential monomer component.
