This invention provides a system and method for handling slurries containing calcium compounds which readily separate from the liquid carrier of the slurry. It includes a slurry reservoir having a mixer for maintaining the slurry in a highly agitated condition. The reservoir is connected to a transportation tanker via a conduit having a pump. The conduit has a means, such as a venturi, for adding a flocculant to the slurry between the mixer and the pump. The flocculant may be a polymeric material sold under the trade name "Agriseal".
