PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving a method for producing a diaryl carbonate by carrying out CO-eliminating reaction of a diaryl oxalate. SOLUTION: The method for continuously producing the diaryl carbonate comprises continuously practicing a reaction step for producing a reaction mixture containing the diaryl carbonate by carrying out CO-eliminating reaction of the diaryl oxalate in the presence of a CO-eliminating catalyst, an evaporation step for evaporating an evaporation component containing the diaryl carbonate as a main component from the reaction mixture and a step for returning an evaporation residue mixture of the evaporation step to the reaction step. In the continuous production method of the diaryl carbonate, the amount of reaction by-products having a boiling point higher than that of diaryl carbonate contained in the evaporation residue mixture returned from the evaporation step to the reaction step is kept in a range of 15-40 wt.%.
