<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain consumption level information on a photoreceptor which is used to decide the life of the photoreceptor. <P>SOLUTION: Image processing corresponding to an image formation mode is carried out by deciding the image formation mode (S1). In accordance with the mode, a charging bias system for a DC bias, an AC bias, etc., is switched (S2). Then the application time of the AC bias and the application time of the DC bias before and in image output are measured (S3), the application times up to the last time is read out of a nonvolatile memory of a memory tag that a process cartridge has (S4), and after the measured application time is added thereto (S5), integrated times corresponding to respective modes are stored as consumption level information of the photoreceptor (S6). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
