<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for highly purely and profitably producing a 2,3-dihydro-4(1H)-quinolinone compound and a 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-4-oxo-3-quinolinecarboxylate compound as its precursor, respectively. <P>SOLUTION: This method for profitably producing a 2,3-dihydro-4(1H)-quinolinone compound represented by formula (4) (R<SB>1</SB>is H or a 1 to 4C alkyl which may be branched) is characterized by condensation-cycling an anthranilate derivative in the presence of an alkali metal alkoxide and a water-immiscible organic solvent to obtain the 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-4-oxo-3-quinolinecarboxylate compound, and then reacting the compound in the presence of an alkaline aqueous solution without isolating the compound. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
