<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device capable of effectively suppressing shimmy as well as preventing deterioration of the steering feeling. <P>SOLUTION: The steering device is equipped with a rack 10 for transmitting rotational movements of a steering wheel 1 to dirigible wheels and a rack housing 41 for supporting the rack 10 to a car body. The steering device comprises a variable resistance device 8 for varying slide resistance force of the rack 10 against the rack housing 41, a shimmy detection means for predicting or detecting generation of the shimmy, and a control unit 9 for making the slide resistance force of the variable resistance device 8 larger when the generation of the shimmy is predicted or detected than the slide resistance force when the generation of the shimmy is not predicted or detected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
