PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slat driving device for a horizontal blind increasing the descending speed of slats compared with the ascending speed but not increasing the descending speed until the slats are turned to a maximum inclination angle when starting the descent of the slats. SOLUTION: An input shaft 8, a driving shaft 14 rotated normally and reversely based on the rotation of the input shaft 8, and a slat lifting device and a slat angle adjusting device operated based on the rotation of the driving shaft, are provided in a head box. The slat driving device is provided with transmission means 28, 48, 51, 38 for increasing the rotation in the slat descending direction of the input shaft 8 compared with rotation in the slat lifting direction, to transmit the rotation to the driving shaft 14, and speed increase delaying means 23, 24, 34, 36 for delaying the operation start of the transmission means until the slats are turned to the maximum inclination angle, to rotate the input shaft and the driving shaft at equal speed.
