PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active front wheel steering system provided with a function for positioning a steering device. SOLUTION: A steering system reduced in connection between a position overlay unit and a torque overlay unit is provided with a remote valve assembly for controlling hydraulic assist force or an electric motor for providing the torque overlay and electric assist to a rack and a rack of a pinion type steering system. In one working example, a position overlay unit provides the assist force, and the torque overlay unit can provide a motor command signal to a motor of a differential gear mechanism arranged in a steering shaft. In other working example, the position overlay unit provides a motor command signal, and the torque overlay unit can provide the assist force.
