<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a food additive for preventing IgA nephropathy which eliminates IgA in the blood of a patient of IgA nephropathy or a sugar chain abnormal type IgA from inside of the body, and its treating method. <P>SOLUTION: The food additive for preventing IgA nephropathy adjusts the IgA concentration in the blood of a patient of IgA nephropathy to an appropriate value to maintain it by taking in a food alone, and its treating method is described. The food additive for preventing IgA nephropathy is constituted of "an extract of jackfruit seeds" containing "jacalin and/or a jacalin derivative" which is specifically bound to IgA, and the food is suitably used for preventing or treating IgA nephropathy. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
