PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone set with which a possession state of the portable telephone set can be exactly judged and an incoming call notification means is automatically selected by the possession state. SOLUTION: The portable telephone set has a pulse sensor on an operation part or the side of a display part of a portable telephone, a means for judging a human body possession state from an output signal of the pulse sensor, when human body possession is detected by the means for judging the human body possession state, mutes a ringer tone, blinks an incoming call LED, or mutes the ringer tone, vibrates a vibrator, or lowers volume of the ringer tone to a grade not to become troublesome to surrounding people.
