PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Buddhist altar with which a mortuary tablet, a picture frame, and a remains case, and the like, are carefully treated equally to a principal image. SOLUTION: At least the depth area of a Buddhist altar body 1 is formed by division into two, i.e, upper and lower storage parts 3, 4 by a partitioning wall 2. A principal image enshrining part 30 is arranged at the center of the upper storage part 3 when viewed from a front part. The mortuary tablet I, and the picture frame F with the photograph of the departed put therein or an enshrining part 40 for a container B for storing the remains are arranged at the center of the lower storage part 4 when viewed from the front part. An illumination tool 5 for the principal image to illuminate the principal image enshrining part 30 is arranged in the upper part of the upper storage part 3 and an illumination tool 6 for illuminating the enshrining part 40 is arranged in the upper part of the lower storage part 4.
