PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile machine for preventing an external telephone set from ringing exceeding the set number of incoming calls even in the case of an incoming call in a power saving mode or the like in which a receiving system is not ready. SOLUTION: If a call signal arrives from a telephone line 3 during a power saving mode, an external telephone disconnection controller 30 generates a pulse signal corresponding to an on period of the call signal as a disconnection signal 33, and a relay switch 31 opens a contact point and disconnects an external telephone set 4 from the telephone line 3. This prevents the external telephone set 4 from ringing. During this time, a main body control part 11 performs a return operation from the power saving mode, and when the return operation finishes and a receiving system is ready, the main body control part 11 stops a disconnection operation by the external telephone disconnection controller 30 and makes the external telephone set 4 ring. After the ringing of the set number of incoming calls, a CML relay 15 is switched to a facsimile communicating part 13 side to form a direct current loop, starting a receiving operation.
