PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extraction method for obtaining an liquid extract containing a xylooligosaccharide in a high content, capable of making hydrolysis and extraction reaction uniformly progressed, by means of treatment with high-temperature and high-pressure water of which the after-treatment is simple. SOLUTION: This method for producing the xylooligosaccharide comprises using a pulverized broad-leaved tree as a raw material and subjecting hemicellulose in the raw material to the hydrolysis and extraction reaction by circulating the high-temperature and high-pressure water through the raw material in a reaction vessel equipped with a high-temperature and high-pressure water circulating line, wherein a weight of the high-temperature and high-pressure water is 10 to 90 times as large as a dry weight of the raw material and a temperature of the water is 180-200°C. It is preferable that a circulation speed of the high-temperature and high-pressure water corresponds to 0.5-2.0 cycles/min. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
