PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage device capable of easily receiving a painting and calligraphic work file in a file type capable of utilizing a user terminal PC1. SOLUTION: The storage device has a painting and calligraphic work information storage means HDD; a means 176 converting data types of painting and calligraphic work into binary image data, and means 8 and 178 communicating with the user terminal having a display. The storage device further has a distribution means 1 and IMAC displaying the property of a corresponding file in the HDD to the display in response to the demand of the property of the file in the HDD at the user terminal through a communication means. The distribution means converts the data types of the painting and the calligraphic work of the file into the binary image data by the conversion means 176 and transmits the conversion at the user terminal by the specified file type TIFF when the data types of the painting and the calligraphic work of the file are multi-valued image data (a color image) different from the binary image data when the user terminal specifies a file type TIFF applied to the binary image data and indicates the download of the file of the HDD.
