<p>A coarse filter/ strainer comprising a dished grid (2) formed from a reversibly deformable e.g. thermoplastic material, can be flipped/ inverted when fouled with debris, such as leaves, to throw off the retained matter and then be ready for re-use. When mounted in a duct (5), the grid curvature adopted during flow is reversed when the air flow is stopped, and throws off surface-held debris. Independent claims are included for a filter element (2) which is clipped into a mounting (4) by lugs (3, 3'), motor vehicles and ducts fitted with such self cleaning filter, and the self cleaning process and its use, particularly in a motor vehicle.</p> |
