A seal for the gap between an edge of a motor vehicle roof opening and an associated lid is constructed as a hollow member (5) formed from an elastomer material. The wall regions (13, 14) facing towards the flange member (6) and frame (8) surrounding the roof opening are relatively thick-walled, whereas the outer wall regions (17, 18) facing towards the lid (4) are relatively thin-walled and are outwardly bulged in the form of a ridge in the uncompressed state. A sealing lip (16) adjoins the fixed roof surface (2) and extends, from here onwards, obliquely upwards to the ridge (20) in the manner of a wind deflector. When the lid is closed, the hollow profile member (5) is so compressed that none of its wall surfaces extends above the external skin of the roof (2) and the lid (4). <IMAGE> |
