<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite machine capable of ensuring the security of disclosed information by imposing expense on users as less as possible. <P>SOLUTION: The composite machine authenticates a request source terminal depending on a type of a network to which the request source terminal is connected in the case of transmitting stored information of the composite machine to the request source terminal. Concretely, when the type of the network is the VPN (YES in S215), the composite machine carries out the authentication processing for the VPN (S217), when the type of the network is the WAN (YES in S219), the composite machine carries out the authentication processing for the WAN, and when the type of the network is the LAN (NO in S219), the composite machine carries out no authentication processing. Thus, the user needs not to set a password different from each information in the case of storing the information to the composite machine.
