In a housing (3) connected to a suction fan, the air flow is sucked in via an inlet (2) which is bounded by guide profiles (4) converging upwards and is provided with a covering (5) which, on each inlet side with a groove profile (6), bounds an air guide to a separating element having separating surfaces and running parallel to the inlet. The separating element opens out into the housing and is bounded by substantially zigzag-shaped walls (10) which form separating surfaces (10') and meet at the upper side of the element. Extending upwards between these walls (10) from the bottom of the groove profile (6) is a further wall (11) which, with the abovementioned walls (10), bounds substantially zigzag-shaped flow channels. Furthermore, a feed device (12) for wetting liquid is provided in each case for the separating elements (8) and the covering (5), via which feed device the wetting liquid is distributed evenly over all the assigned separating surfaces whose inclination is selected such that the wetting liquid flows to the groove profile (6) without dripping from the surfaces. <IMAGE>
