<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device for detecting recording paper on a carrying passage in only a state with a problem such as jamming, when a power source becomes an ON state from an OFF state. <P>SOLUTION: A state management memory is called (step 202). A state management memory judging part discriminates which value of "0 (the state with the problem)" and "1 (the state without the problem)" the state management memory holds (step 204). When "0" is held, a detection sensor control part reads a detection sensor stored in a detection sensor memory (step 206), and the stored detection sensor detects its own detecting range of the carrying passage (step 208). The detection sensor judges whether or not the recording paper is detected (step 210). When detecting the recording paper, the recording paper is removed.
