A lamp of an electrodeless lighting system is provided to achieve improved characteristics of point light source and spectrum characteristics by using a metal halide lamp where a high pressure mercury is injected. An electrodeless lighting system comprises a magnetron, a resonator, a microwave feeder, a lamp(106), a reflector, and a lamp cover. The magnetron converts an electrical energy into a high frequency energy. The resonator has an input side where an output portion of the magnetron is inserted, and a resonance space for resonance of microwave. The microwave feeder has an end connected to the output portion of the magnetron, and induces the microwave generated from the magnetron to the resonance space. The lamp is connected to the other end of the microwave feeder, and encapsulated with a light emitting material for emitting light by a plasma discharge. The reflector is disposed around the lamp such that the reflector reflects light emitted from the lamp. The lamp cover is coupled to an output port of the reflector such that the lamp cover cuts off a leakage of microwave and protects the lamp. The lamp is a metal halide lamp injected with a high pressure mercury so as to improve characteristics of point light source and spectrum characteristics. |
