PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MTF-measurement method and its device, capable of measuring using a simple device, the MTF of a recording medium, including interaction between the recording medium and a color material. SOLUTION: This method has an image outputting step of drawing a test pattern on the recording medium which is a measuring object of the MTF by using a digital printer and outputting it; an image inputting step for reading an output image by an image input means; a first Fourier transformation step of acquiring power spectrum by performing two-dimensional Fourier transformation of the input image data read; a pattern image reproduction step for acquiring the reproduced image of the test pattern, by analyzing the test pattern of the output image from the input image data; a second Fourier transformation step of acquiring power spectrum, by performing two-dimensional Fourier transform of the reproduced image of the test pattern; and an MTF calculation step for determining the MTF of the recording medium, by comparing each power spectrum acquired by the first Fourier transform step and the second Fourier transform step.
