PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a universal joint which can reduce noise and is small in resistance torque. SOLUTION: A ball 30 pressed in a ball holding hole 29 consisting of a circular hole formed in an end face 24a of a trunnion 24 is elastically energized in an axial direction A1 and a radial direction R1 of the trunnion 24 by a ball support part 31 consisting of the conical taper surface of an outer wheel cap 28. The backlash in the axial direction A1 and the radial direction R1 of the trunnion 24 is removed. When transmission torque is low, the torque is transmitted from the trunnion 24 to an outer ring cup 28 through a ball 30. When the transmission torque is high, the torque is transmitted from the trunnion 24 to the outer ring cup 28 trough a needle roller 27. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
