PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a case for a magnetic disk wherein the formation of a duct is reduced. SOLUTION: The case for the magnetic disk comprises a case body having an opened top and an opened bottom and further having a pair of side walls disposed opposite to each other and each formed with a groove for containing the magnetic disk formed of a large number of strip-like protrusions formed parallelly along the longitudinal direction in the inside face, a top cover removably attached to the top of the body and a bottom cover removably attached to the bottom of the body. The groove has a flat bottom face (A face) and has a slant face (C face) between side faces (B face) of the groove and the A face. When the thickness of the magnetic disk to be accommodated is represented by t, the width of the disk after its outer circumference is chamfered is represented by d, a chamfering angle is represented byα, the width of the A face is represented by a, an angle formed of the C faces opposite to each other with the groove disposed between them is represented byβ, an angle formed of the B faces opposite to each other with the groove disposed between them is represented byγ, and the shortest distance between the B faces opposite to each other with the groove disposed between them is represented by w, relations of d≤a, w>t and 2α≤βare satisfied.
