<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remarkably improve activity to the electrochemical reaction of catalyst metal to obtain the high output of a fuel cell by infiltrating a solution of cation exchange resin deep into pores of carbon to uniformly form a thin coat of cation exchange resin on the surface of carbon, and refining and highly dispersing the catalyst metal selectively held to a contact face between a proton conductive path of the cation exchange resin and the surface of carbon. <P>SOLUTION: In a method of manufacturing a catalyst for a solid polymer type fuel cell, carbon is dispersed in the solution of cation exchange resin with a viscosity of 40 mPa s or less, and then a solvent is removed from the dispersed matter. After the cation of the catalyst metal is adsorbed to the fixed ion of the cation exchange resin, the cation is chemically reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
