<p>A radioactive material detection system (200) includes a cargo container monitoring system (10) and a control center (220). The cargo container monitoring system (10) has a radiation sensor (24) configured to detect radiation over a predetermined or commanded period of time and a transceiver (26) configured to send the information received from the radiation sensor (24). The control center (220) is in communication with the transceiver of the cargo container monitoring system (10). The control center (220) is configured to receive data from at least one additional source (222) other than the cargo container monitoring system (10) and to asynchronously analyze the data from the at least one additional source (222) and the information from the radiation sensor (24), during transit, so as to detect radioactive material in a cargo container (12).</p> |
