PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent dots at a contour part of a thin line or a character within a halftone density range from being broken in pseudo halftone processing for representing the density of an input image by the largeness/smallness of minute dots or the density of the minute dots. SOLUTION: A pixel determined to be a pixel constituting an edge from image data is determined whether it corresponds to a prescribed condition, and the gradation value of the halftone processed pixel that has been determined to correspond to the prescribed condition is replaced with a dot array pattern corresponding to a gradation value on an N (N is integer being≤1) level.
