PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a formation method of a hard nitride layer which enables structural members of various chains to exert sufficient wear resistance, even when applied to a diesel engine automobile etc. used under severe environmental conditions. SOLUTION: In order to form the hard nitride layer on the surface of a forged molded material, the material is subjected to nitriding and then subjected successively to diffusion coating, quenching and tempering.
