PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cover and an optical element housing package using the cover capable of preventing cracks and joint damages from occurring on a window due to stress caused by deformation and heat occurring in seam welding, and of keeping the reliability of air tightness high, over a long period by reducing the residual stresses produced in the window body. SOLUTION: The cover 7 comprises a first cover 4 composed of a first frame 3, including a recessed part 3b in a lower surface thereof and an opening part 3a formed therein for transmitting light penetrating between the upper surface thereof and the bottom surface of the recess 3b, and of a glass made window 1, having the outer periphery of an upper side main surface jointed via a first sealing member 2 with the circumference of the opening 3a in the recess 3b, so as to cover the opening 3a and including an antireflection film formed thereon; and a second frame 6 having the center thereof where an opening 6a is formed, and further having an upper surface thereof with the circumference of an opening 6a in which the lower surface of the first frame 3 of the first cover 4 is jointed via a second sealing member 5.
