<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing plate material which is excellent in on-press developability, registering discrepancy and plate wear resistance and of a relatively low price, and a printing method. <P>SOLUTION: The printing plate material has a hydrophilic layer and an image forming function layer on one side of a plastic substrate and has a back coat layer on the other side thereof.
