PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a working device and a working method for a wire by which a fine wire for medical use is straightened in a straight line, cut at a fixed length and simultaneously other press working can also be performed. SOLUTION: Bend is straightened while sending the wire 10 as a base stock to a straightening part 110. The wire 10 the bend of which is straightened is intermittently conveyed by the fixed length at a time by a conveying part 120 while being loosened in a loosening space 140. The wire fed from the conveying part is worked. At this time, looseness in the loosing space 140 is detected with a sensor 150 and, in the case the looseness is not less than a specified amount, the delivery velocity of the straightening part 110 is controlled so as to be smaller than the average conveying velocity of the conveying part 120.
