The equipment involves a carrier along which a rock drilling machine moves forwards and backwards. A drill train is connected to the drilling machine. Around the drill train is fitted a drill waste catchment device which locates tightly against the rock face. Attached to the catchment device is a breakdown unit to which in turn is connected a drill waste collector. The breakdown device feeds predetermined quantities of drill waste to the collector. The drill waste catchment device comprises a first cylindrical part with a dia. which is less than that of the drill crown, and a second cylindrical part with a dia. which is greater than that of the drill crown. Between the first and second parts is a conical part. It incorporates a bearing ring which serves to guide it on the drill train, and a sealing plate which rotates with the drill train.
