A pulse generator for generating pulses having a predetermined pulse width, comprising a plurality of cascade connected pulsers for changing the pulse width of input pulses to a predetermined pulse width and outputting the resulting pulses; a plurality of signal extracting parts associated with the respective ones of the plurality of pulsers for extracting, from the immediate output terminals of the corresponding pulsers, the pulses outputted by the corresponding pulsers; a selecting part for selecting one of the pulses extracted by the plurality of signal extracting parts; a feedback path for inputting the pulse selected by the selecting part to the pulser of the first stage of the plurality of pulsers; and a measuring part for measuring the pulse width of the pulse selected by the selecting part, based on a loop period in which the pulse selected by the selecting part has passed along the feedback path.
