PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original lithographic printing plate with successful stain resistance and resistance to plate wear and a support for a lithographic printing plate used in the original lithographic printing plate.

SOLUTION: This support for the lithographic printing plate has 50 to 90% surface area ratio ΔS5(0.02-0.2)sought by formula (1): ΔS5(0.02-0.2)=(Sx5(0.02-0.2)-S0)/S0×100(%) from an actual area Sx5(0.02-0.2)and a geometrically measured area S0which are sought by the approximate triangular system from data obtained by extracting a 0.02 to 0.2 μm wavelength component from three-dimensional data obtained by measuring a 5 μm surface angle at 512×512 points with the help of an interatomic force microscope and not more than 0.35 μm surface arithmetic average roughness Ra.
